March 2024 Meeting Minutes

ATTENDEES

Troy Hopkins, Kristen St. Germain, Missy Decesaris, Dawn Goralewicz,
Christopher Books, Danielle Steele, Hailie Davis, Ava Austin, Katie Kazarian,
Judy Main, John Gaccione, Matthew Mendolia, Leah Stewart, Breeze Floyd,
Kelly Gonzalez, Haley Smith, Melissa Burdick

ADMIN

Mr. Troy Hopkins spoke about the inclement weather recently and closing
school. He spoke about the upcoming budget meeting and the caution
“school zone” light has been fixed..
Mrs. St. Germain spoke about the half days at the end of school and the
reason for them.. She spoke about the teacher development day last Friday.
She gave Sport updates- winter sports wrapped up. Girl’s basketball team
had a great season and made it to the championship. Spring sports are
starting.
Haley Smith is the junior class advisor and spoke on behalf of the high school.
PD was successful. The whole high school is planning a ball on 3/1, it is met
gala theme. Art department is planning their annual art show in March. There
is an art show in the Stonington Borough that will be showcasing art from the
students.
Matthew Mendolia spoke on behalf of drama. Clue reimagined is the show
this year. It will be the last week in April. March 4th, Mel’s Downtown
Creamery is hosting a fundraiser for Wheeler Drama. Wheeler Library also has
an air plant fundraiser to benefit Wheeler Drama.
Leah Stewart spoke on behalf of the Mr. Cillino from elementary school. PTO
family fun night was a success. Third graders had their wax museum which

was successful. She said this was a great PD day. This month, there will be a
second lockdown drill. March 1st starts read across America week. Bus driver
appreciation day. Leah also explained the need for half days the last week of
school.

Treasurer’s Report

The starting balance for January was $ After income and expenses our
ending balance was $55,769.95. The report was approved by vote.
February Treasurer’s Report . After income and expenses our ending balance
was $55,133.60. Both reports were approved by vote.

Minutes

A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the December
meeting minutes.

Request and Review

Mrs Schaacht is looking for $1,795 for a STEAM assembly in May for all
elementary students.
A motion was made, seconded and approved to give Mrs. Schaacht $1,795 for
the STEAM assembly.

OLD BUSINESS  

Missy spoke on behalf of Tessa that the Valentine’s Dance was a success.

NEW BUSINESS 

Restocking the lounges on March 1st
Spirit wear is opening up this week until March 1st.

Penny wars will be called “Me Lucky Loot” this year. Judy Main is chairing this
fundraiser every Thursday in March during lunch. Anyone interested in
volunteering can contact Judy.

The town-wide Basket Raffle will be on April 20th in the evening. Both
baskets and volunteers will be needed.

The cultural assembly will be on March 1st, DJ Reggie will be teaching the
students hip hop dance moves, while they learn about RESPECT.

Day of Awesomeness is coming up on April 26th. We will be looking for
volunteers to help out that day.
